We are currently working on networking solutions with other public bodies that implement AI-oriented projects: we cooperate with the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government in terms of staff training and the research centre “ATHENA”, where support services are concerned.

So far, I’ve been professionally involved in monitoring the use of AI for the improvement of OCR in historical parliamentary archives. On a personal level, I extensively use ChatGPT for text production and translation.

The Hellenic Parliament also uses AI in speech-to-text transcription of sessions. In the future, we plan to use AI for automatic indexing and documentation of parliamentary materials.

AI in Parliaments may prove valuable in the following fields and services:

              1) automatic metadata extraction/documentation of parliamentary materials of various text-types, both archival and contemporary
              2) using LLMs to extract meaningful information/knowledge mining of parliamentary interest, applicable to decision-making and evidence-based policy making
              3) speech-to-text and summarization tools for lengthy parliamentary sessions/proceedings
              4) cyber-security through AI systems
